First Days of PreSchool

It's official... Greyson has grown up beyond the point I was ready for. What an exciting week for him though. Here are a few highlights...

He was really excited...can't you tell?
Walking in with Daddy
Silly faces before going in.
Giving Mrs. Heather her hand soap gift (idea from Pinterest on my give page)
Second day silliness. That goofy smile cracks me up.
His name tag below his bag hook.
His cubby.
Tracing school tools and line drawings.
First official school note - bring an apple.
Introduced a calendar to help him understand what days are "Mommy/Daddy" days, "sitter" days, "school" days, and "special" days.
He also started a chore chart.
And we visited a possible college (kidding, went to U of A Campus to get haircuts)
He brought back apples as requested...she didn't expect these.
Art work with his friend- G's is the traced picture.
Introducing the first letter - A. Noticed he traced his name (sort of)
Learning the color RED

Greyson loved school and Mrs. Heather so much that he wants to go there everyday instead of to the sitter. That's a good thing; too bad not possible. And finally... Please don't think I will be making posts like this every week or taking pictures of everything he brings home, but I had to capture another 1st.

The Jasper County Fair

Last week we visited the Jasper Count Fair. We visit a barn in our neighborhood where a family has been keeping their daughters 4H hogs. We made sure to visit the night she would be showing. G had lots of fun and was very excited that Mira (and family) joined us.

It was HOT
and G was obsessed with this fan
One of the students I visit - she placed high
The baby goats were cute
Gramps we want you to get some of these
G was telling Mira the names of the equipment

Yes , they were prompted to hold hands.

No rides at this fair but maybe when he goes with Gramps and Grandma to the Bourbon County Fair.

Pillow Fight: Take 2

Pillow fights are the best entertainment in the winter when it's dark out so early and cold. The last one was so fun that he asked for Michael to throw pillows at him again... "like last time".

Home Again

Greyson's visit with Dr. Spaeth went well yesterday morning especially since he didn't tell her that he didn't like her. He told her that Thursday when she came to visit after surgery. He knew she was responsible for the splint.

By Ronald (or as G calls him "Donald")

She checked out the stitches and took out the drain tube. She re-wrapped it all and gave us instructions on how to care for it all. He won't have any OT or PT for now but just be encouraged to use both hands. We will follow up to check the healing with his pediatrician in a couple of weeks. He is going to talk with Dr. Shiels to decide when a follow up MRI will be and when we will take G back for follow-up treatment. He is good to go for now.

We hung out with Tralaine and Andy in German Village at Katzinger's Deli and the coolest bookstore ever. Before leaving them at their hotel heading to the airport for their flight home.

Candy Buckeye (chocolate and peanut butter is AWESOME)

Katzinger's Deli (it's famous...has even been on Food Network)

Cruising German Village carrying his leftover lunch.

Reading with Uncle Andy - they lost us when we went to get some sweets.

Fun with Aunt Tralaine. Lucky she was there to help clean up the two water spills at lunch.

We got home last night around 10pm and he did pretty good on the trip. We read books, played with some borrowed toys, and watched Babar and Monsters Inc. for the 50th time.

The week should be fairly quiet and he will probably go back to the sitter next week. He needs to be able to catch himself if he falls and things are looking promising considering he is wiggling his fingers today.

We will send an update maybe this weekend. He is doing so well there isn't much to report.

Take care,
Brooke, Michael, and Greyson

A New Bike for G: Strider

We chose to get Greyson a balance bike to get him started. The idea is that he isn't ready for pedals yet but he can work on learning the other skills needed to ride a bike (steering & balance) so he might as well give it a go. He LOVES it and his new watermelon helmet.

A Saturday Morning Request

Greyson and I were sitting around watching some cartoons waiting for Michael to finish mowing so I asked "What do you want to do today?" and he said "Paint!" so we painted.

He's practicing making circles.

Boys of Summer

It seems like summer is almost over and it really has just started.

Greyson has so much fun swimming with Daddy and gets more and more comfortable with being in the water every time we go.

He thinks this is the funniest thing to do.

He quickly learned how to climb up on the deck on his own. He does need a little boost but he will be jumping up on the deck and back down quicker than we think.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer as much as we are.

XBox is Exhausting

So the game will remain nameless but Greyson loved "playing" with Calvin. And how sweet was it that Calvin let Greyson sit on his lap and pretend to play so I had to have this pic.

About 10 minutes later I walked in and found this :) and couldn't pass up this pic.

Now That's a Shiner

Greyson got his first shiner today at his first real "play date". Hopefully he learned not to walk in front of a person swinging. Someday we will all get to razz him that this sweat little girl gave him his first black eye. He didn't hold any grudges as you can see he shared his ice with her after he settled down. Thanks to MomBE and Kylie for the help and for taking some pics too. ;)

An April Trip to the Zoo

In April, we visited Wichita for my sisters 40th B-Day and had a few extra minutes to go to The Sedgwick County Zoo. Greyson was escorted by Aunt Tralaine, Tanna, Calvin, Grandma Diane, myself, and Michael and had us all running.
